Highway 199 Corridor

Fort Worth, Texas

The communities between downtown Fort Worth and Lake Worth are well positioned for new investment within the broader market growth occurring in Tarrant County.   These communities have beautiful natural terrain, an affordable housing framework, and are in close proximity to the amenities afforded by downtown.  Recognizing this new growth potential, the North Central Council of Governments coordinated a multi-city task force to work with TXDOT in the improvement of the areas central corridor, Highway 199.  In order to seek funding to improve this corridor, the cities and NCTCOG initiated a process to prepare a comprehensive plan for this roadway improvement and the potential economic development along its way.

Working as part of a larger team lead by Freese and Nichols, Catalyst was engaged to prepare market-based concepts for redevelopment along this proposed new thoroughfare.  As part of this process, Catalyst facilitated public meetings, prepared market analysis, forecasted land use programming, and prepared specific redevelopment concepts for various development nodes within the corridor.  This process lead to the funding of $100M to construct the thoroughfare and provided information necessary to amend zoning along the corridor.
