Downtown Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas

Downtown Fort Worth has become a national case study in a walkable central business district.  Over the past 30 years, multiple plans and private investment efforts have centered upon the prioritization of the downtown urban fabric having an interactive program, appealing streetscape system, and mix of market-based uses.  With the success of these efforts culminating in a vibrant restaurant and office population, the City and Downtown Fort Worth Inc. initiated a new master planning effort to update the strategic plan for downtown through 2025.

As part of a larger consultant team lead by Freese and Nichols Engineers, Catalyst was engaged to assist in the preparation of the resulting Downtown Fort Worth 2025 Master Plan. This included helping facilitate stakeholder worksessions and specific work on the urban design, retail/entertainment, and housing sections of the plan. On the housing section, Catalyst prepared programming forecasts based on population and market statistics, and prepared a land development and valuation analysis for downtown. Nearly $200 million has been implemented under this strategy.
